Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift: The Billionaire Best Friends Taking Over the Pop Music World

In November 2022, Selena Gomez caused controversy when she told  Rolling Stone  that her only friend in the entertainment industry was Taylor Swift. However, nearly two years later, the relationship between the two billionaires seems to be no longer as good as before. Selena Gomez has not appeared at group gatherings with Taylor Swift for months.

2023-2024 is the busiest period for the Anti-hero hitmaker due to her Eras Tour  world tour  . Despite that, Taylor still arranges time to spend with her group of famous friends such as Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, Sophie Turner, Zoe Kravitz, Ice Spice and Brittany Mahomes. The group also supports the singer by coming to see her shows in different cities.

However, despite their long-standing friendship, Taylor and Selena have had very little interaction over the past two years. The last time the couple was photographed together was in January at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.

After completing the European leg, Taylor threw a party at her Rhode Island mansion in late August. Blake Lively, Gigi Hadid and many other sisters were present but Selena was absent. This surprised fans.

Part of the reason for the separation is believed to be that Selena doesn't want to be around Taylor's other friends. Multiple sources claim that the former Disney star feels she can't fit in with Taylor's social circle.

“Selena feels like she’s grown up outside of Taylor’s circle of friends. She doesn’t want to hang out with Blake, Ice Spice, Brittany or any of those girls. In many ways, she feels like an outsider now. She’s not a cheerleader and never wanted to be,” the source told the  Daily Mail .

 

Justin Bieber's ex is suspected of being upset by his absence from group gatherings. When Taylor's fan page posted an Instagram photo of the pop superstar and his friends in the Super Bowl audience in February, Selena left a cryptic comment underneath. It was a sad emoji and a black heart.

Daily Mail  previously reported that Selena Gomez and Blake Lively, although friends with Taylor Swift, are not friends and have even had a long-standing feud. The two actresses have never taken photos together. They have also never appeared together at Taylor's events such as birthdays, American Independence Day parties or New Year's Eve parties...

In a 2022 interview with  Rolling Stone  , Selena said: “I never fit in with the cool girls, the celebrities. My only close friend in this industry is Taylor Swift.”

Selena Gomez has been dating musician Benny Blanco since the summer of 2023. Taylor Swift also dated Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce around the same time.

However, a second source dismissed the idea that Taylor and Selena's friendship had cooled, saying the pair were simply too busy with their successful careers and relationships.

"Life, in a good way, is the reason Taylor and Selena don't hang out as often anymore. Taylor is on her biggest tour ever and trying to balance work and seeing Travis. Selena is also busy with  Only Murders in the Building  and her relationship with Benny. There just isn't enough time in the day for them to be together," the insider said.

According to the source, the friendship of the two beauties was not affected by the time gap between them. No matter how long they were apart, when they met again, they continued their conversation from the point they had stopped before.

"They may see each other again in the future at awards shows or if they happen to be in the same city and maybe go out to dinner together," the source added.

Meanwhile, a third source revealed that Selena and Taylor still talk regularly but cannot meet because they have not been in the same city at the same time for a long time.

In an interview with  E! News  earlier, when asked if Taylor could make a cameo appearance in  Only Murders In The Building  , Selena expressed her uncertainty because her best friend was too busy. However, she supported the idea of ​​Taylor playing a passerby on the street.
